How to Handle Pre-qual Requests

Learn how to complete a pre-qual request or delete the client from the pre-qualification request list

This article breaks down how to respond to pre-qualification requests and how to add a pre-qual proactively.

How Buyers Request a Pre-qual

Clients and prospects can request a pre-qual directly from their Home Search experience. They can do this from:

  • Any listing details page

  • When adjusting their budget

  • While using the financial calculators

When a pre-qual is requested, you'll receive an email notification and the client will land in the Pre-qualification request list.

How to Handle Pre-qual Requests as an Agent

When agents receive a pre-qual from a buyer:

  1. Check your email. You and your lender co-sponsor will receive the notification.

  2. Find the client in your portal under the Pre-qualification request list.

  3. Click on their name to view their profile and preview their report before reaching out.

  4. Call your client to understand their intentions. If they're working with a different loan officer, let your lender co-sponsor know.

  5. Once you have their pre-qual data, navigate to their profile and click Complete pre-qual.


How to Handle Pre-qual Requests as a Loan Officer

When lenders receive a pre-qual request from a buyer:

  1. Reach out to the buyer to let them know you saw they requested a pre-qual and you want to understand what prompted their request.

  2. Once you've completed the pre-qual, enter it manually by clicking “Complete pre-qual.”

  3. This will remove the client from the Pre-qualification request list..


How to Add a Pre-qual

If a buyer has been prequalified, we highly recommend adding the information to their profiles, displaying it on their report, and optimizing their home search experience by helping them find markets that best match their finances and priorities. We'll also alert you and the buyer when their pre-qual is about to expire.

You can add a pre-qual in one of the following ways:

  • Through bulk import, or

  • Manually adding it to the buyer's profile

How to Delete a Pre-qual Request

If you'd like to simply remove the client from the Pre-qualification request list, click the trash icon on their profile under the Needs Attention card.
