If you’re using YouTube to host your videos, make sure your recording is at least 60 seconds long. Videos shorter than 60 seconds are categorized as YouTube Shorts, which aren’t supported by Homebot’s video feature.
If your video is already uploaded as a YouTube Short, you can follow the workaround below to ensure it functions properly with Homebot.
You’ll know it’s a YouTube Short if it’s under 60 seconds long and the URL includes the word “shorts” - for example:
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/uxX4JVciz98
The workaround:
Simply replace "shorts/" in the URL with "watch?v=" so it looks like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxX4JVciz98

Why don’t my YouTube videos appear or play correctly in Homebot, and how can I fix this?
YouTube videos integrated with Homebot must meet specific requirements to display and function correctly. This guide outlines steps to ensure video compatibility and resolve common issues, including integrating YouTube Shorts and enabling embedding.
General Requirements for Using YouTube Videos in Homebot
To ensure your YouTube video is compatible with Homebot, follow these guidelines:
Record in landscape orientation: Portrait videos may not display correctly.
Set the video visibility to Public: Private videos will not work in Homebot.
Enable embedding: Embedding must be allowed in YouTube Studio (instructions below).
Video length requirements: The video must be longer than 60 seconds and cannot be a YouTube Short.
Addressing YouTube Shorts Compatibility
If your video is a YouTube Short (its URL contains /shorts/), you can modify the URL to make it compatible with Homebot:
Replace
/shorts/in the URL with/watch?v=.Use the modified URL when adding the video to Homebot.
Troubleshooting Embedding Issues
If you encounter playback errors or linking problems, verify that embedding is enabled for your video. Here’s how to enable embedding in YouTube Studio:
Log into the YouTube channel that uploaded the video.
Open YouTube Studio.
Navigate to Content and select your video by clicking on its title or thumbnail.
Click Show more or More options.
Scroll to the License and distribution section.
Turn ON the option for Allow embedding.
Save the changes.
Once embedding is enabled, paste the updated video URL into Homebot. If you can see the video preview, the link is now compatible. By following these steps, you can ensure that your YouTube videos integrate seamlessly with Homebot and appear correctly for your audience.
